Bade Miyan, chhote miyan Review: Bade Miyan, chhote miyan (BMCM), a modern take on the 1998 hit featuring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, bursts onto the scene with a bang – or rather, a flurry of explosions. This movie promises adrenaline-pumping action, witty exchanges between the protagonists, and a mission to save the world. Yet, like a sleek car with engine trouble, BMCM struggles to merge its lofty aspirations with a coherent plot and compelling characters.

A Duo of Opposites

At the heart of the story are two contrasting agents. Akshay Kumar portrays Inspector Vijay Singh (Big Brother), a seasoned and rule-abiding cop. Tiger Shroff steps into the shoes of Captain Rakesh (Little Brother), a young, impulsive military officer plugged into social media. When a global threat emerges, these unlikely allies must join forces, their differing styles sparking both friction and occasional hilarity.

Action: A Double-Edged Blade

The main attraction of BMCM undoubtedly lies in its action-packed sequences. The movie throws everything into the mix – jaw-dropping stunts, adrenaline-fueled car chases, and CGI-heavy combat scenes. While the action is undeniably grand in scale, it suffers from repetition. Over time, the constant explosions and fight scenes start to feel monotonous. Moreover, the heavy reliance on CGI occasionally detracts from the impact of the stunts.

Dynamic Between the Leads

The saving grace of BMCM is the dynamic between Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Their playful banter and contrasting approaches inject some levity into the intense action. Kumar delivers a commendable performance, blending his trademark comedic timing with his action hero persona. Shroff brings his characteristic agility and charm to the role, even though his character lacks the depth of Kumar’s.

Supporting Cast: Hit or Miss

The supporting cast is a mixed bag. Prithviraj Sukumaran as the villain, Kabir, fails to leave a lasting impression. His motivations feel underdeveloped, and his portrayal falls short of creating a truly menacing antagonist. Jacqueline Fernandez and Manushi Chhillar, the leading ladies, are confined to stereotypical damsel-in-distress roles. Their characters contribute little to the narrative and seem like mere afterthoughts.

Plot and Humor: A Missed Chance

The biggest disappointment of BMCM is its storyline. The plot follows a predictable trajectory, littered with clichés. The attempts at humor rely heavily on slapstick comedy and outdated puns, often failing to elicit genuine laughs. There is a missed opportunity here – the clash of personalities between the two leads could have been a richer source of humor. Additionally, while the movie attempts to tackle a global threat, it fails to develop it in a manner that truly captivates the audience.

Opening Day Earnings: A Box Office Bang, but Can It Sustain?

Despite its shortcomings, BMCM enjoys a strong opening at the box office. The star power of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, combined with the nostalgia associated with the original film, likely contributes to its impressive debut. However, whether the movie can maintain its momentum remains uncertain. Word-of-mouth plays a pivotal role in determining a film’s success, and the mixed reviews garnered by BMCM may affect its future performance.

A Flawed Yet Entertaining Journey

Bade Miyan, chhote miyan is a movie that thrives and falters on its action sequences. While impressive in parts, the relentless action eventually becomes tiresome. The film benefits from the chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, but the supporting cast and the storyline fall short of expectations. If you’re seeking a mindless, action-packed Bollywood extravaganza, BMCM might fit the bill. However, if you crave a film with a gripping narrative and well-rounded characters, you may want to explore other options.
